These fabulous Art Squares come in a wide range of sizes and colors which make them perfect for a variety of projects.

Today I am using the white 3-inch Art Squares
to create a note pad.
The Art Squares are all precision cut from mat board and have beautifully finished edges.  The work surface is ideal for using all types of creative mediums ranging from wet to dry.
The front of this Art Square was stamped with Penny Black's Poppy Parade several times in Onyx Black VersaFine ink and heat embossed with clear powder. The stamped images were then watercolored with Tombow Dual Brush Pens.  The mat board is so sturdy that it didn't warp and a combination of ink transfer and direct-to-paper coloring were easy to achieve without pilling.
The Art Squares are also generously thick which allows the edges to be colored to create great coordinating and/or contrasting borders.  Here you can see the front cover was edged in a black Big Brush Marker.

After the artwork was completed, holes were punched in the Art Square covers to accommodate black metal jump rings and copy paper was used for the note paper.

Shh...Don't tell Jill.  I peeked over on her studio desk and I saw she will be using Twinchie Art Squares tomorrow.
